Sea or air? It is the first question in every import conversation, and the honest answer is: it depends on weight, urgency and cash flow.
Quick rules of thumb:
– Sea freight (FCL/LCL) wins on cost for anything heavy or non-urgent — but plan 3–6 weeks door to door.
– Air freight wins when the goods are light, high-value or time-critical — samples, electronics, spare parts.
– Customs clearance is where shipments stall. Keep commercial invoice, packing list and HS codes consistent.
– Marine insurance is cheap compared to losing a container. Never skip it on sea cargo.
